How do you talk to kids about grief and loss? Will they even understand? These conversations can be cringeworthy. This is okay and very common. This course will address some of these fears and provide tools to successfully have these difficult conversations about grief and loss with children. This course also touches on common misconceptions of grieving children and ways to help them heal.

Meet Your Instructor:
Lauren Karl, MA, LPCC & EMDR
Lauren received her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Regis University. While in graduate school and through an internship with Hospice Lauren focused her attention to helping those individuals working through grief and loss as well as current and past trauma. Post graduate she has obtained specialized certifications as a Grief Counselor in addition to be trained in EMDR. Lauren enjoys working with clients to achieve their goals and support them in their personal growth. Working with a range of individuals from elementary age to older adult has served as a welcomed experience for her in offering services across the lifespan and through differing life transitions. Lauren utilitizes a variety of theories in therapy in addition to EMDR and grief work to support individuals working through anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, and relationship concerns.
Lauren is married to a law enforcement officer, which provides her insight into the unique challenges and rewards loving and living within a first responder family. She feels honored to be able to serve first responders in their needs. Together, she and her husband have two 12-year-old daughters and two dogs whom she enjoys spending time in the outdoors with. Lauren enjoys staying active, fishing trips with her family, hiking, bow hunting and live music.
