Responder work is taxing, and personnel are frequently being asked to do more with fewer resources. Fire personnel face increased stress, poor sleep, administrative and organizational issues, trauma exposure…and the list goes on. This six-module series confronts some of those issues, while simultaneously providing specific tools and skills to mitigate these stressors, increase performance, and bolster resiliency skills!

Meet Your Instructor:

Eric Ballard

Eric Ballard has been in the fire service for 23 years and in private EMS for 20 years, most of that time as a paramedic. He currently serves as Lieutenant at South Metro Fire Rescue Colorado, Operations Coordinator for the South Metro Peer Support Team, and the Bennett Watkins Fire Rescue Peer Support Team Coordinator. He has been a Peer Support Counselor for 10 years and recounts assisting suicidal firefighters in the middle of the night. Eric is passionate about the mental health of firefighters and has personal experiences with life hardships that include stress injury/trauma, divorce, financial fraud, loss of a parent, and loss of a close firefighter friend from job-related cancer.
