Ever find yourself trying to answer questions about your military service such as, “Do you kill people?” or, “Will you have to go to another country?”  Talking to kids about military service can be tricky.  On one hand, kids want to be proud of their parents, but on the other, it can invoke fear and anxiety.  This course will focus on infusing patriotism into your family early to help guide some of these difficult conversations.  Learn how to tackle some of these difficult topics with age-appropriate talking points.

Meet Your Instructors:

Becky Edmonds, MA, MFTC

Becky Edmonds graduated with her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Regis University and obtained her bachelor’s degree from the University of Phoenix. During her studies at Regis University, Becky specialized in therapy aimed at teens and kids. She utilizes play therapy and experiential therapy skills when working with kids and teens struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, suicidal ideation, and trauma. Utilizing play therapy or experiential skills with families allows Becky to partner with all family members and work through communication concerns, family reintegration, substance abuse issues, and joint parenting after divorce. She also has her EMDR certification for use with children and adolescents.

James Snapp, SFC & Police Officer

Sergeant First Class (SFC) James Snapp joined the US Army in 2010 and became a Geospatial Intelligence Analyst. James was immediately sent overseas and completed a year tour in Korea. After attending Airborne School, James was assigned to Joint Base Lewis McChord and 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne). James would complete tours to Afghanistan, Kuwait, Qatar, Korea and support numerous stateside training missions. In 2017 James would get out of the regular Army, join the Reserves, and continue his service with a Denver metro area police department. James completed the academy, field training and approximately a year on the street before being mobilized as a Reservist. James would complete another year on active duty with a Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg. James is currently assigned as an instructor with the US Army Reserve and works patrol at the police department.
